Large Retreat Bag KIT includes precut vinyl for outside, lining, EBfuse Light and Thermolam for the lining of the bag, 24” rainbow zipper and two zipper pulls, two metal rainbow zipper ends and one set of large metal frames. The kit includes a copy of the printed pattern which is a free pattern by Emmaline Bags.
Approx 1 mm thickness - vinyl is an excellent choice for bag making, often referred to as a "medium-weight" or "bag-weight" vinyl And offers good structure for purses, totes, and pouches. It is generally suitable for domestic machines when using the correct needle and foot.
- Sewing Machine Needles: Use a Microtex needle (size 80/12 or 90/14) or a specialized leather/vinyl needle.
- Presser Foot: A Teflon foot or roller foot is helps prevent the vinyl from sticking to the machine. If you don't have one, placing Scotch tape or tissue paper on the bottom of a regular foot can work.
- Stitch Length: Use a longer stitch length, around 2.5mm to 3mm.
- Securing: Use sewing clips instead of pins to avoid leaving permanent holes in the material.
***When making a retreat bag I did not use interfacing on the vinyl : I put EBFuse light and Thermolam on the lining piece. I also pieced it with my regular stitching foot.
